It seems the 12 megapixel barrier has remained far behind and already aspire to the 16MP camera phones, such as Sony Ericsson's Cyber-shot S006, which has recently appeared on the U.S. list of FCC authority.
The smartphone will arrive in spring in Japan, local operator KDDI portfolio and we suspect that by summer we will see in Europe. Among facilities that include a super cameraphone Snapdragon 1 GHz processor, a 3.3-inch touch screen and the usual connectivity options - WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
We do not have a software platform for this phone, but Android is likely to be favored. The new Exmor sensor of the camera is an R, which is doing excellent in situations where the light source is weak or missing. Its level can reach even the value of ISO 12800, and the sensor size is smaller than the one on the Nokia N8, so do not be fooled by the 16 megapixels just disclosed.
In addition to these facilities, we mention that the handset is in contact with water resistant and strangely its variants are some unusual color: gold, pink and blue. More likely at CES 2011.
